After we reviewed the previous parts of the series on pharmacists’ immigration to Australia, and in the last part we learned about the method of applying for a visa after receiving an invitation from the Immigration Department, as well as the cost of the visa, it is now our turn to discuss the next steps that must be taken after paying the visa costs. In this article, we will explore Next procedures that must be taken after paying the visa fees.
What happens after paying the costs of pharmacists’ immigration to Australia?
When you pay for your visa, you will begin the process of preparing to travel to Australia. Typically, you will receive an email asking you to undergo a medical examination (applies to Visa 190 and Visa 491), in addition to providing your biometric data. This usually applies to Visa 491 (while Visa 190 Only medical examination is currently being done).
Sometimes you may not receive an email, in which case you should log into your account on the Immicount website, where you will find an option inviting you to arrange a medical examination. Generally, you will also find any additional instructions or required requests clearly written in your Immicount account.
What is the method for booking a medical examination?
When you receive the email or log into your Immicount account to arrange the medical examination, you will find a page called “Declaration” that contains important instructions that you need to read carefully. After reading the instructions, you must select the appropriate options for you and your family, then click “Submit.”
After that, a page will appear asking you to add an email address. Enter the email address twice and click on the green mark to confirm.
After that, a new page will appear for you containing your data and a link to “Save and Print Referral Letter”. Click on this link to obtain a PDF file containing your information and the “HAP ID”, which you must print and take with you to the medical examination.
If you have a household, you will get a similar “Letter” for each member of the household containing the same information and a “HAP ID” for each individual.

What is the cost of the medical examination?
The cost of the medical examination varies according to the examination center and the services provided. Usually, the cost of the medical examination is determined in US dollars or Egyptian pounds, and you can pay the costs either in cash or via a Visa card.
The medical examination includes various examinations such as blood and urine tests, chest X-ray examination, and tests to screen for viruses. In addition, a general examination of blood pressure and vision may also be performed.
To confirm the details of the cost and services included in the medical examination, you must refer to the email you received and contact the relevant examination center to obtain accurate information.
After performing the medical examination, you will find in your Immicount account under the heading “Examinations in Progress” indicating that the examinations are in progress. Then, within the next week or so, you will receive a notification confirming that the examination results have reached the relevant department.
If the results are good and do not require any additional action, you will receive a message stating “No Action Required.”
What is the method for booking a biometric?
To book a biometric (fingerprint) appointment, you can do so through the official website of the vfsglobal external ordering service. Visit the website and choose the option that suits you in terms of location and travel destination, then click on “Take Me To The Website.”
When you access the site, choose “biometric” then “Book Now”. If this is your first time booking, choose “I don’t have an account” and enter your email address and the required password, then click “Register”.
An account activation link will be sent to your email. Open the link and follow the instructions to activate your account. After that, log in to your account and choose “Start New Booking”.
Choose “Biometric Submission Only” and fill in the required data such as passport number. You will also need a “VLN Number” which must have been sent to you in your biometric booking email.
The current cost of a biometric in 2022 is about EGP 575 per person, and of course if you are traveling with your family, this amount must be paid for each family member.

How long does it take for the visa to arrive?
The average period of arrival of the grant (visa) can vary between people, as it is provided after completing all the steps required to apply for the visa. After all procedures are completed, you will get one of two cases:
- Direct Grant: You get your visa approved without the need for additional clarifications.
- Case OfficerThe Visa Officer may ask you for an additional paper or clarification after studying the file. An email will be sent requesting these documents and must be responded to with the required documents. After that, the grant will be issued.
As for the time required to obtain the grant, there is no specific period, as this varies from one person to another. Some grants may arrive within two weeks, while for others it may take months. This is completely normal and should not cause concern.
You will receive an email containing notification of the grant's arrival in PDF format. You should pay attention to the details of this email, especially the “First entry” date, which indicates the latest date by which you must enter Australia.
After filling out the data, choose the biometric appointment that suits you and complete the application. You will then receive a confirmation message and appointment details via email.
